The Fanvil GA200-8E is a high-capacity digital VoIP gateway designed to bridge traditional E1/T1 PSTN and enterprise telephony infrastructure with SIP-based IP PBXs and VoIP networks. Eight digital E1/T1 interfaces and support for up to 120 concurrent calls make it well suited for contact centers, enterprise voice networks, telecom service providers, multi-branch organizations, and migration projects that need to preserve existing digital trunks while moving communications to IP.

Built on a PowerPC and DSP hardware architecture with an embedded Linux operating system, the GA200-8E supports SS1, SS7, ISDN, SIP, IMS registration, T.30/T.38 fax, advanced number routing, E1 hot standby, dual Gigabit Ethernet, VPN connectivity, secure SIP/media protocols, and redundant AC power inputs. Its standard 1U rack-mount design and hardware watchdog functions provide a practical platform for high-availability digital voice deployments.

Compatibility & Buying Information

The Fanvil GA200-8E is a digital E1/T1 VoIP gateway. It is intended for digital trunk integration and should not be confused with Fanvil GA100-series analog FXO or FXS gateways. Equipment requiring analog telephone interfaces needs the appropriate analog gateway rather than the GA200-8E.

The GA200-8E provides eight physical E1/T1 interfaces while Fanvil's current exact-model datasheet specifies a maximum of 120 concurrent calls. The physical trunk-port count should therefore not be interpreted as a guarantee that every theoretical timeslot across all eight E1/T1 interfaces can be used simultaneously for independent voice calls.

The gateway supports SS1, SS7, ISDN, SIP v1.0, SIP v2.0, and RFC3261. Actual interoperability depends on the signaling configuration used by the carrier, PBX, PSTN circuit, or other connected TDM equipment. E1/T1 framing, clocking, signaling, numbering, and trunk parameters should be confirmed before deployment.

The GA200-8E supports primary and backup PCM lines, E1 hot standby, simultaneous registration to primary and backup SIP servers, hardware watchdog monitoring, and dual AC power inputs. Either power input can operate the gateway, while connecting both enables the intended power-backup configuration.

The two network interfaces are adaptive Gigabit Ethernet ports. Fanvil's product specification identifies separate service and management network functions, allowing deployments to separate gateway traffic and administration where appropriate.

The gateway supports T.30 and T.38 fax, but successful fax operation depends on the connected SIP service, IP PBX, PSTN circuit, codecs, network conditions, and end-to-end fax configuration.

For rack installations, the supplied angle brackets and rack hardware can be installed on the 1U chassis. For desktop use, the supplied chassis footpads can be attached instead. Fanvil recommends maintaining adequate ventilation around the gateway and keeping the ventilation openings unobstructed.

Fanvil recommends proper grounding and provides a grounding stud and ground wire for the chassis. Because the unit connects to AC mains power and carrier-grade digital telecommunications circuits, installation should be performed by personnel familiar with E1/T1, telecom grounding, rack installation, and applicable electrical requirements.
