Compatibility & Buying Information
Exact Model: This page is for Uniview NVR502-16B-P16, a 16-channel Prime Series network video recorder with sixteen integrated PoE ports and two internal SATA hard-drive bays.
16 Integrated PoE Ports: The recorder provides sixteen 10/100 Mbps PoE camera interfaces. Compatible cameras can receive both Ethernet connectivity and power through a single network cable.
240 W Total PoE Budget: Each port can provide up to 30 W, but all connected cameras share a 240 W total budget. System designers should add the maximum power requirements of every camera and accessory connected to the NVR PoE interfaces.
High Network Bandwidth: NVR502-16B-P16 supports up to 320 Mbps incoming and 160 Mbps outgoing bandwidth, making it better suited to demanding high-resolution multi-camera systems than lower-bandwidth recorder families.
16MP Recording: The recorder supports compatible IP camera streams at resolutions up to 16MP. Actual simultaneous decoding performance varies with resolution, codec, frame rate, and the number of active channels.
Smart Analytics Come from Compatible Cameras: This standard NVR502-16B-P16 should not be confused with the NVR502-16B-P16-IQ. Advanced Face Detection, SIP, UMD, LPR, metadata, traffic, and similar functions on this model depend primarily on compatible intelligent cameras providing those analytics.
Smart Function Limit: Uniview specifies Smart-by-IPC support across all channels with a total processing rate of up to 8 images per second for applicable intelligent functions.
Two HDD Bays: The recorder includes two SATA interfaces. The “2 HDD” specification describes available drive bays and should not be interpreted to mean two hard drives are included unless NTS Direct specifically sells the unit with installed storage.
Current HDD Capacity: Uniview's current specification supports drives up to 24TB each, providing a potential 48TB raw internal capacity using two supported 24TB drives.
Older Datasheet Difference: The NVR502-B-P Series datasheet supplied for this page lists an older maximum of 10TB per HDD. Uniview's current 2026 online specification has since been updated to 24TB per drive. Verify intended high-capacity drives against current Uniview compatibility information before installation.
Maximum-Capacity Temperature Note: Uniview states that maximum HDD capacity can vary with hard-drive size and operating temperature and specifies that the environment should not exceed 40°C when operating at the maximum published storage capacity.
RAID 1: The two-bay design supports RAID 1, allowing compatible drives to mirror data for storage redundancy. RAID 1 improves resilience against a single drive failure but reduces usable storage capacity because the second drive mirrors the first.
Hard Drives: Unless the NTS listing specifically states that storage is preinstalled, plan to purchase compatible surveillance-rated hard drives separately.
4K Display Output: HDMI supports output up to 3840 × 2160 at 30 Hz. VGA supports up to 1920 × 1080 at 60 Hz. The recorder also supports independent HDMI and VGA display operation.
ONVIF Compatibility: NVR502-16B-P16 supports ONVIF Profile S, G, and T cameras along with RTSP streams. Basic interoperability may be available with compatible third-party cameras, but plug-and-play provisioning and intelligent functions can be more limited than with matching Uniview cameras.
ANR: Automatic Network Replenishment can improve recording reliability when used with compatible cameras containing local edge storage. If network connectivity is temporarily interrupted, supported cameras can retain footage locally and synchronize it back to the NVR after communication is restored.
Alarm Integration: Eight physical alarm inputs, two alarm outputs, and one RS485 interface allow integration with compatible sensors, alarm devices, controllers, and other security equipment.
Audio: The recorder includes one RCA audio input and one RCA audio output for one-channel two-way audio. Audio embedded in compatible IP camera streams can also be recorded where supported.
NDAA: Uniview USA currently includes NVR502-16B-P16 on its NDAA-compliant NVR list. Projects with regulated procurement requirements should still verify every camera, hard drive, switch, accessory, and other system component against the project's specific requirements.
Best Fit: NVR502-16B-P16 is well suited to professional 16-camera surveillance installations requiring integrated PoE, high network bandwidth, 16MP recording capability, dual-drive storage, RAID 1, 4K display output, alarm integration, and smart analytics supplied by compatible Uniview cameras.
